Hi Ladies,
Lucas finally decided to come into this world on Sunday November 18 and we couldn't be happier. He's a healthy and happy baby. My due date was the 15th, I went and had my 40 week checkup on the 14th and the DR stripped my membranes. Later that night I started to have contractions but they weren't consistent. I continued to have inconsistent contractions along w/bloody show for the next 2 days. DH and I walked a lot on the 16th and I ate spicy foods. Again on the 17th my sisters got me out shopping and we walked for several hours. We then went for Thai food and it was then that the contractions started to become consistent. We kept walking to make sure the contractions stayed consistent. After 2 hours of having 15-17 contractions in an hour I decided to call the DR, in which he told me to go to L&D. I was checked in and found that I was 4 cm dilated and was admitted. The contractions kept consistent but I was not progessing. It took 8 hours to dilate to 5 cm. I then asked the DR if there was anything to be done to make this progress. He said he wanted it to run its course on its own before breaking my water or starting pitocin. Then on Sunday the 18th the DR came in to see my around 11 am and decided it was time to break my water as I was still 5 cm dilated. Once my water was broke the contractions started to become more intense and closer together. It was then around 4 pm that I had to get the epi as the pain was getting unbearable. Once the epi was administered I started dilating a lot faster. I was around 9 pm that I was 10 cm dilated and I started to labor down (they said that it could take up to 2 hours) Within 15 mins I was ready to push. I pushed for an half an hour and Lucas arrived!! Lucas arrived at 10:14 pm at 8 Ibs 2.3 oz and 22 1/2 inches long. He's just amazing!
