New to Miami and Preggo!!!!!

Hi There!!!  My husband and I relocated to Miami this past June for his job and we are now expecting our first little bundle of joy!  I am about 7 weeks along and scared out of my mind as I do not know too many people down here and am still having a hard time adjusting to being away from all of our family and friends.  We live in the Coconut Grove area and I was wondering if there were any other moms to be in the area that may be going through the same situation or have any advice for me on how to meet more people.  My husband works most weekends as he is a Chef, so I am often running around by myself.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

  • Hey there! I live in Brickell and am 12 weeks pregnant. Was thinking about doing prenatal yoga in the grove-dharma? ever heard of it
  • Hi, I was thinking about doing the same, but did not know what class to join.  I haven't done too much yoga in the past, but think it would be great for me!  I think I will look them up.  When do you plan to start?

  • After the new year? Will let you know!
  • Hi there, my husband and I live downtown Miami and we're 25 weeks pregnant - due mid-April. Welcome to the neighborhood! I've lived in Miami for 5 years (originally from Indianapolis) and still find South Florida a bit overwhelming especially now that we'll be raising a baby with no family support in the area. It's really hard to meet people in Miami and most of the friends we've made are through our jobs (my husband works in hospitality and I did as well until recently changing jobs). We really like the Coconut Grove area and see ourselves moving to that area within the next couple of years. We actually go to church in the Grove at St. Hughs. Happy New Year and keep in touch!
  • 17 weeks along, here. We live in Midtown where the Target is. I have been looking to make new friends and meet other couples who are expecting. Nice to have a support system at such a life changing time.
  • Welcome to Miami and congrats on your pg. I live in south Miami (Palmetto Bay) and have three kids, my latest baby girl is 7 month old. We moved to Miami 5 years ago and I understand that it can be stressful at first - life is so different here.

You can pm me if you have any questions about Miami or pregnancy - I have been there more then twice :)

Also I recommend go to the board of your due month - I go to July 12 board regularly - it is very much alive. GL!

  • Hi! I know exactly what you're going through. I just had my first in January and have few mommy friends in my area. My husband is also a chef so weekends are always free. If you ever want to get together let me know. My email is tamijaresgmail.com
