At MHs work they have a tree with kids names that are in need with holiday wish lists attached. All the kids were asking for DS games and typical toys. There was one little 4 year old boy and all he asked for was a pair of snow boots. I don't know why but that made me so sad that he could have asked for anything but he just wants a warm pair of boots. We pulled his name and I hit up some sales and got him some clothes and we're gonna make him a stocking and get him some toys and puzzles. My mom and MIL are getting him boots and some other stuff. E even offered to give up his treat at the store today in exchange for me getting the kid a remote control helicopter.
Re: This broke my heart.
Oh god, I can't even.
Our family is sponsoring a single dad and his two kids for Christmas this year, and their requests made me bawl. Obviously I've already spent way too much money on gifts.
Although I know lots of kids want certain toys for Xmas I have a hard time picking them when it comes to giving trees.....I feel like if a kid needs something to keep warm or things for everyday life that trumps toys.
Now that?s the true meaning of Christmas - love it
and what a super lesson for E which he seems to have already learned. Such a generous offer.
Well done family!!
