LO has fever every other week.. is this normal?

Hi everyone! Haven't been here for a LONG time. I was reminiscing a year ago around this time when LO was still in the belly and remember how much I wanted to meet him. Now, I can't believe a year's already passed and he's hit so many milestones. One of which is teething! He's getting a fever of 101 - 102 every other week. I've heard that fevers can accompany teething... but I'm just wondering if it's okay to keep giving him advil/tylenol this frequently... could the fever be from something else?

 TIA for your responses :)

  • I would talk to the pedi about the fevers. Some people say fevers go along with teething, other people disagree. How is LO acting when he has a fever? I wouldn't give meds for it, unless he seems uncomfortable.

  • Went to the doctor's today because of his abnormally high fever. Turns out he's fighting a virus.. slap cheek disease (?). His cheeks and ears gets extremely red and hot. :(

  • I'm glad that you have figured out the issue causing the fevers. I hope your little one feels better soon.

I've heard of that [Fifths Disease]. Glad you figured out what it was. FYI, you'll want to keep LO away from pregnant women, if he's still contagious [hopefully the pedi told you that]. Hope your LO is all better soon!

Ah yes, the fifth disease.... Typically not a big deal for kids and fever is very common as well as redness to very noticeable rash on the face and sometimes chest. But yes, definitely keep your LO away from pregnant women.
I was exposed to it when I was about 8 months pregnant. Had to do do all kinds of tests. Luckily all was good but there was talk of early induction even if I would have gotten it... It is very dangerous for women in first trimester.

    Hope your LO feels better!
