Advice on how to stop pumping

I've made the decision to stop pumping and am looking for advice on how to go about stopping my milk production. I've read a few posts that say the best way is simply to pump less milk per session over time, but I only get about one ounce per pumping session anyway so I don't know if that strategy will work for me. The other suggestion I've read is to remove pumping sessions until they are further apart but I'm not sure how this should work. Do I just pump every 4 hours instead of every 2? Or do I just wait until I'm feeling really full and then pump? And if I'm spreading out my sessions do I also not pump until I'm empty? Any advice anyone has on how best to do this would be very much appreciated. TIA!

Re: Advice on how to stop pumping

  • You would only pump for relief, not until you are empty. I would try to space sessions out, and drop them one by one, not pumping as long and only until my boobs feel better.

Some people say that decongestants help drying up. I never tried, but I do know that sage will I had an unpleasant experience with an awful drop in supply. Cold showers and ice packs should work as well.

    Good luck!
