Nursing every 30 minutes to an hour

We are on day 5. Up until last night he was taking an hour or more to nurse each time. Now he can barely stay awake to nurse for 510 minutes and he wants to nurse constantly for short sessions.

It's normal. :] I felt like I was constantly nursing for the first few weeks. What have you tried to keep him awake for longer feeding sessions? I had to strip him down, tickle his spine and feet, and then lay him down in the crib or change his diaper when nothing else worked.

We finally had to resort to getting him undressed down to his diaper and occasionally wiping a cold wash cloth on him to keep him awake.  Around 2 weeks they start getting more alert for nursing sessions.  Good luck!
