TTC After a Loss

Kindle and other ereader users nttcalr

Ok so someone in this house lost my kindle after I let him borrow it on a trip to Colorado.  I won't name names...

So I find myself in dire need of a new one.

What kind do you have?  What would you recomend?  Keep in mind mine was one of the first kindles. lol

  • I have a Kindle Fire and I really like it. It has interwebz connection, a faster processor than the Nook, a usb connection, and is light weight.

  • I recently got the Kindle Paperwhite. I really like it a lot. I didn't need the Kindle Fire because I have a smart phone and an ipod touch, so I already have those capabilities.

  • I have a Kindle Fire.  I love it.  You can watch movies & TV shows, (through HBO) access the web, (although bumping from it sucks balls) play games, & most importantly, read books!

  • I have a regular kindle and I love it.  I use it only for reading and like that it is non-glare.  I tried to read on the iPad (using the kindle app) and it made my eyes hurt.

  • DH just got me the new Kindle Paperwhite for our anniversary and I love it. I had the Kindle 2 previously. I like that the Paperwhite still has the e-ink (so I can read it in the sun and there's no glare) and is JUST an e-reader (not a tablet also), but is touchscreen and has a slick screen light.

If I had something that I could also browse the internet on, I would never get through my books. As evidenced by the fact that I have a hard enough time putting the computer/iphone away. Embarrassed

OMG. This is totally me. I love the paperwhite and for the exact same reasons. P.S. If someone lost my kindle, his name would henceforth be "mud"

I am trying really hard to not over react since it was the 11yro.  It sounds like Kindle is winning the vote, I was looking at the fire and the paperwhite.

I agree as well.  I have other stuff for internet browsing...I just want to read on my Kindle.  I have an old one too, and I love it.

I have an iPad from work, and I've tried to read on it using the Kindle app...I just can't do it.  Too bright and distracting, and hard to read outside.

I have both a regular kindle, a 2 I believe, and an iPad.  I only use the iPad if I'm reading before bed, because of the back-lighting.  It's heavy and has a really bad glare.  I prefer the kindle for the everyday use, especially at the gym or poolside.  I have a waterproof cover for it, so I don't worry about sweat or water splashing.

MH uses the iPad for reading. He just bought the mini-iPad because of the weight issue.  He prefers it much better.

  • I have a kindle fire, and I do love it. I actually bought it for DH last Christmas, but I've sort of adopted it! Hehe. The ONLY thing I don't like is that you cannot read it outside in sunlight. I even bought a film to put over the screen that is supposed to help with glare...didn't work. I think the new kindle paperwhite is supposed to be easier to read in sunlight, so you could check that out.

  • I have the original nook and I love it. I have the version with wifi so I can buy books wherever. I also have an original iPad, I keep things old school around here. I use the apps on my iPad for nook, kindle, etc. I like that I can compare prices and if nook is cheaper, I can read it either way (I have a cute case for my nook).

I have short term memory loss. Do not take it personally if I do not remember you right away.
