Pregnant after 35

Hi Ladies, It's a boy!

Hi ladies, i am expecting my first baby and I will deliver at 36 years old.  I'm 35 now and my birthday is coming up next month.  So far I'm half way through my pregnancy everything has been great with the exception of my early onset of gestational diabetes but I've been monitoring it with diet and exercise.  I'm really excited to be starting my family :-)  We just found out we're having a boy!  I definitely would love to have at least one or two more.  So, I'm gearing up to do a whirlwind of baby duties for the next 2 or 3 years. I think i might be getting ahead of myself but I'm really loving this pregnancy experience!  I'm hoping delivery would be  nice and smooth, let's see how i feel after that experience.  Thanksgiving Day tomorrow I shall be officially allowed to enjoy all the food without feeling to guilty now that I'm feeding for two :-)

  • Congratulations on your boy!  This is my first also and I hopefully will find out on Monday.

Just wondering how did you know you had gd so early?  Did you have symptoms?  I'm scared of getting it but I'm sure I won't be tested until the normal timeframe.

    Happy Thanksgiving!

  • Congratulations on your baby boy! I have my GD test 12/17 and am hoping all will be well, but it is heartening to hear how well it can be controlled with diet and exercise.

  • Congrats on your boy - I've had 4 of my (so far) 5 in my 30s, and now #6 will be in my 40s. Best of luck on a continuing positive pregnancy.

  • I was diagnosed from my AC1 test.  The standard range had to be up to 5.6, I had 5.7 which put me just at the borderline.  So they decided to have do the whole prenatal sweet success program and control my diet to prevent me from having to take medication later on.  Actually I think it was the best thing for me because I lost much needed weight and didn't really gain much so far throughout the pregnancy.  I was a little shocked that my blood sugar was a little high but then again i used to live off of sweets.  I lost 10 pounds dropping me to 120, which where i should of been at the time anyway.  But all is good so far, I wouldn't worry too much, as long as they catch it early and monitor the women, babies should still be healthy.
  • Wow, you have a beautiful family! Love it, I grew up with 6 brothers and sisters and it was the best :-)
  • Glad to know all is good.  My cousin developed GD but the baby was fine.  She did loose the extra weight and had no problem after she had the baby.   Just make sure you can walk as much as possible and watch the sugar content.    Good luck to you and your baby.
