Painful periods post c-section

I had a c-section in April.  The past month or two....when I'm on my period it feels like my incision is throbbing from the inside.  I'm guessing the uterus is swollen and putting pressure on it?  Anyone else experience this?  It was bad enough last night that I had to use a heating pad and really couldn't do any housework because I felt so miserable.

What's bizarre is I started the birth control pill 2 months ago.....before that, I wasn't on anything and did not have this pain.
