Grapefruit seed extract for thrush?

I have read a lot about grapefruit seed extract being helpful in treating thrush. I'm not 100% sure I have thrush (no white spots, but I have painful nipples pretty much on and off throughout the day), but I figure it can't hurt to treat it and hopefully the pain decreases. I'm pretty sure GSE is safe to use while nursing (there's stuff on kellymom about it) but just wanted to hear others' experiences with it?

    I never tried GSE but I did use gentian violet and it worked great.

    I tried it during my awful month and a half of thrush.  It didn't work for me, but I had a really terrible case of ductal thrush.  You can try it, and also you can try lotramin on your nipples.  GL!
