Re: Confessions Today!

  • I have pretty good dental insurance but I haven't been to the dentist in over 4 years.  Last time I went it hurt really bad and I can't find a dentist I like.  I quit going to my old one because the hygienist had a ton of facial hair and I couldn't help but stare.  I have never had a cavity in my life and am afraid they will tell me I have one.  My resolution for 2013 is to be brave and make a dentist appointment.

    i don't know how to link to the thread on my iPad. DS has a weird autoimmune condition that MIL didn't believe actually existed because he seems very healthy most of the time. When he was newly diagnosed and still in the crawlaroundandeatthings stage, she let him eat a small bit of her cat's poo off the floor. She asked if I thought it would put him in the hospital because she wanted to know if he really wouldn't be able to fight off any infections from it. I wasn't going to let her see him until she demonstrated understanding of what she did. I thought she had turned over a new leaf, but it turns out she just got more sneaky in trying to isolate me from DH.nbsp;

I am not sure I could forgive that.

I am getting for real moonshine this week. I'm excited.

Jealous!!! My fam had a tradition of taking a shot of tuica, a Romanian moonshine, before our thanksgiving meal, but we finally finished the giant jug 2 years ago. Sadsies. Last yer we just used Whiskey. Gross.

I decided to forgive my MIL (a few months ago, I said I wasn't going to let her see DS unless she apologized for letting DS eat catshit to see if he really had CFPAN or not) and let her have supervised access to DS.

Say what? I definitely missed something.

Kirk, that is super scary.  I would freak the heck out.

I have to sleep with the TV on now. Somehow, if the TV is on "they" can't get me. haha

Hah.  Poor Kirk.  I'm not sure if I believe in ghost or spirits or whatever.  I use to think I saw things in the house I lived in in high school.  Like I'd be doing dishes in the kitchen and a shadow would run across the living room.  That happened a lot.  FWIW, if there are really ghost I don't think they can hurt you, just scare the ever living s'hit out of you.

  • Kirks, I hope you don't live in the Paranormal Activity or Poltergeist house.  Is it an older house?  Also, you could have mice or squirrels in your walls or attic.  I lived in a house that had squirrels in the attic that was right above my room.  That was super creepy until they found out what it was.  Then it was just annoying as hell.

She has only had him alone once in an emergency, and she ruined it. I was prepared to never speak to her again, but DH's family dynamics are so complicated I don't want to cut her off until DH has worked through all his feelings about his family's relationships. As soon as he's resolved that none of their crazy is fixable, we are done.

I wasn't judging you for trying. I was just saying I don't think I could. Cutting someone off is really hard, and family dynamics are hard. I am impressed you are letting DH work through this and that you didn't break your MIL's nose when she did that. Is your DH in therapy? I am sure she did horrible stuff to him. Was he pissed as well?

I know this is none of my business, bu I feel bad for you.

  • I get very confused by my boss. She used to freak the eff bc I had too many spaces between the end of my message and email signature. Then I made what I thought was a big mistake yesterday and found out she could care less. It was a lot bigger deal than too many spaces in an email. I just hate mixed signals like that and I also hate when people freak out over petty things like spaces in an email.

Oh, no, I didn't Interpret it as judging at all. I just feel like I should explain because normally I would be all sorts of mama bear about it and I was for a long time. He wasn't nearly as pissed as me, but his mother plays a very good victim and she's trained him from a young child to protect her [:] I'm trying to get him to go to therapy but he won't. He's a truly fantastic although a little clueless [:] father and husband, so he says as long as its not affecting the people he loves, he'll get through it himself.

That's awesome he is working through it. Do you have any friends that you can talk to about the situation so that in an absolute emergency they can provide back up care? I would call in sick for that kind of thing. I am so horrified by the cat poop. And your poor DH.

  • Iam so happy that my IL's are not coming to Thanksgiving this year. This means that they cannot complain about what I cooked, how I cooked it, dinner time, and Football.

My kids are huge fans of The Walkind Dead. We sit down on Sunday nights, and watch it as a family.

I bring my own sugar to work because they are too cheap to buy the packets. Yesterday morning I put it in a ziplock bag, threw it in passenger seat, and headed to work. I go stopped at the gate for a random vehicle check. They found the bag, handcuffed me, had me sit on the ground, until they could get the substance tested. People I work with drove by, and saw me sitting there. They let me go after it tested positive as sugar. Never will I do that again.

I don't think she even wants to do pregnancy pictures because of how self-conscience she is. I think she will regret it later, but I am not going to press the issue because I can only imagine what you guys go through with pregnancy and how it distorts your self-image.

I didn't do maternity photos and don't regret it at all. I have some candids that DH took and some from my baby shower and that's enough for me. I didn't need to pay someone else to take cheesy awkward photo poses of me to capture the memories of being pregnant.

  • Ah, I remembered my confession. I get all my clothes off of freecycle and at goodwill. Yesterday I bought four pairs of pants, a hoodie, and a sweater for DS for thirty bucks.

The hoodie was j crew with tags, sweater had tags, and two pairs of the pants were 80 buck loft pants with tags. The used pants look awesome and are in great shape.

I also got three new sweaters off freecycle in the last month. All fit well and don't look worn.

My confession is that I am surprised people shop anywhere else. I don't buy underwear used, but the thought of paying more than 6 bucks for clothes is crazy to me.

I plan to visit the Goodwill today to find some jeans.  All mine are either too small or too big.  I lurve to thrift shop.

  • RTV, you're a good man to keep that to yourself. My husband is headed for a nutpunch if he makes one more comment about my "gross" popped out belly button.

My confession; I still don't understand American Tgiving. It sounds like a huge obligatory familial penance or something and that if you don't see absolutely everyone, you somehow fail. That doesn't say "holiday" to me. Also, marshmallows on yams? I can't get behind that.
  • DD just found a box of tampons and I've been letting her play with them so I can pretend to work but am really reading stuff on TB. I looked over -- she has one out of them out of the package and is "brushing" her hair with it now. I just took a video and some pictures to keep for later use.

I'd totally do that but our Goodwill sucks and we don't have any other decent consignment shops nearby (for adults, there's a good kids one). There's a thrift store near my parents that's really good but I only get there once in a blue moon.

My FFFC is I kind of side-eye people in their twenties (especially early 20s) who get married after knowing someone less than a year. I feel like it's still a time when you're coming into your own and why rush.

This brought to you by the Us Weekly article I read on the toilet this morning about a Teen Mom who is married to someone not the father of her 2-year-old twins at 20 after dating less than a year and is already pregnant for the 3rd time despite being on birth control. I actually judge it more when someone rushes into a marriage and they already have young children from a previous relationship.

2I hate having sex now, because my PP body grosses me out. DH says he loves it, but if I'm grossed out by it, there's no way he isn't too.
    nbsp;

I feel the same way. I had no problem getting back into shape after DS1. I was slowly getting there after DS2 when I found out that we were pregnant again, and I am now paying the price. Due to having Hyperemisis through out the pregnancy, I'm 30 lbs under my prepregnancy weight but I cry at the extra skin that I don't know how to get rid of.
  • I also took DD to daycare for the day. I have desserts to make (one for Tgiving at my parent's and one for SO's grandparent's house) and homework, cleaning etc. I do not feel guilty at all.

My FFC is that I am looking forward to being severed from my job in January. It's like a dream come true. I hate my job, I will have the opportunity to take full time classes and shave a semester off finishing my degree. And I will be able to spend much more time with my family.

So you all never get together for holidays?

Anyway, keep in mind it depends on the family. We decided we spend ALL holidays at our own home. If people want to come ok. If not, ok too. We love Thanksgiving because of the good food, then we just relax watch football, the kids play and go crazy.

Also, I have never witnessed a marshmellow on a sweet potato in my entire life.

Oh, we absolutely get together for holidays. We do the big thing at Christmas though, Cdns and all that, but the way my US friends talk and the media portrays it, it seems like Tgiving is very guiltridden. Maybe I'm misreading it.

It's not that way for everyone. I think a lot of people put a lot of unneccesary pressure on themselves to make it the perfect day.

While I don't think it's gross, marshmallows on sweet potatoes is definitely the wrong approach.

I think some people like to create a story.

If you aren't having fun, then don't do it. This is my motto.

Good motto. Also, why I try to avoid the ILs at Christmas.

NOPE. You are 100% wrong. Sorry. Your DH is right.

My DW is grossed out by her body, but I still want her. I could drop some serious cliches about how she is more beautiful than ever to me and because of my love for her it makes me want her more. They're true, but they are cliche.

I'm tempted to really TMI this bad boy, but I'll just say the orgasm and feeling of closeness that follows it are just as good now as they were before pregnancy. Because we have so much less time, BJs are en even more special treat these days!

Ditto.  Over the last few years, I've worked really hard on my judging, but this is one thing that I can't help but judge once I know they're anti-vax for a non-medical reason.

I'm really glad we haven't had to "break up" with any friends over non-Vaxxing. There is one couple where the wife was on the fence, but her mom and dad talked her into it.

Good! I would totally sacrifice PTO for a friend in your situation and I am so glad you have back up care. I am still freaked over cat poop being on the floor.

If he wasn't sick, would she have stopped him? Did her "scientific curiosity" aka raging b!tch syndrome outweigh the absolute gross out factor of watching a baby eat poop?

  • My confession - my sis is coming over early to "help" me.  I kind of prefer when they come at their normal time - almost late.  My sis means well but is more of a hindrance than anything.  My mom usually helps, but she had shoulder surgery & can't.  I feeling kind of overwhelmed, but I still don't want to have my sister's kind of "help" tomorrow.

Any family gathering is always ruined by my mother. She is such a drama queen and she feeds off of the tension. Our holidays would be lovely if we could just board her or something. To see everyone else, we have to see her.
