Dyson vacuum anyone?

Do any of you have a Dyson vacuum?  If so, would you recommend it?  Are they that much better than other brands?

I am thinking of us getting my parents one for Christmas, because they keep getting cheap ones which inevitably break.  I think it's something they'd appreciate, but I want to make sure that they are actually really good and it's not just a lot of hype surrounding the brand. 

 Also please recommend your vacuum if you like yours!

I have one, that I love. Honestly, its been forever since I've used anything else. But I use it all the time and it does a great job.

I have a dyson ball, and I love it! DH and I got it from the inlaws last Christmas.

I bought one last year on woot - I absolutely love it.  We have cheap carpet, and it's helped it stay decent looking.  It's very impressive that it can pick up the amount of dog hair it does, beagle hair is a big fat pain to try and sweep up out of anything.

I'm so glad to hear they're good.  Especially you ladies who said you liked the animal one.  My parents have several cats, and they have a crazy time trying to get up the hair from rugs and the couches.

Now to decide on upright or canister.

We have the Dyson Digital Slim Cordless Vacuum.  Love love love it.  It is by far the best cordless vacuum I've ever used, with one major major drawback.  The battery life sucks. I can barely get done with the kitchen, dining, and living room before it dies. Even in the instruction manual it talks about the battery life being 15minutes after a 2 hour charge.  It seems to take forever to fully charge too, like hours and hours.  

 

Our upright is Eureka and I've had it for 10 years. I can't kill it even though I want to.
