LO has a small (like nickel-sized) patch of raised rough skin on his upper chest. It's not red and it doesn't bother him, so I don't know if it's just dry skin or eczema. Anyone else with this issue? I don't think it's a big enough deal for a doctor's appointment, but I don't want it to get worse.
Re: Patch of rough skin
DS had the same thing and when we saw the Dr. last week she said it was eczema....likely from allergies. DS is almost always congested, so she attributed the eczema to his allergies.
We put a small dab of Cortaid on his marks on his chest and back. They go away in a day or so with twice daily application. Lots of lotion helps too...we use Burt's Bees Multipurpose Ointment after baths (put it all over his body) and then Cortaid on the marks.
Hope that helps.
LO has had this on one of his cheeks(face). I noticed last week that it has now popped up on his other cheek as well. And then yesterday, when I picked him up from daycare, I noticed another patch between his eyes. It's only slightly red sometimes, but for the most part just looks rough and dry - when it's red on his cheeks, it kind of looks like rosacea. But I suspect that since I have eczema, and DH has mild psoriasis, it's one of the two. I am going to ask the Pedi about it at his check up next week, and I'll try to remember to let you know what I find out.
If BF, then cut out soy and dairy. If you've already done that, then start cutting out other high allergy foods like fish, nuts and eggs
In the meanwhile, try changing to Averno soap, or Eucerin or cetaphil lotions and soaps.
I would avoid steroids if you can bc they can actually turn the skin white, causing a white spot. But of course, there is a time and place for them
What just happened in my diaper?!
If you do not see it worsen, then I would not make a Dr. appt. If the patches spread or become more frequent, I would call. In the interim, keep LOs skin really lubricated and use a good quality bubble bath.
