14 ounces in 8 hours?

My mom insists on feeding Ds every two hours no matter how much I put in the bottles. I have asked her to try to go three hours between four ounce bottles and that didn't work so I only put 3 and 3.5 in one today. I sent four bottles plus an extra two ounces. And I planned to feed him when I picked him up. I just called her and she was mad because he was fussy and she thinks he is hungry but she is out of milk. I am hesitant to bring her too much because I think she will feed it all to him. He ate a couple times thus morning before we left and he will eat two more times tonight at least. What do you think?

14 ounces doesn't seem that far off.  I can't tell from your clicky, but I will assume your LO is at least 14 weeks old.  I can say at 4 months my DD was taking 4 3oz bottles at daycare and I actually was doing 3.5oz in her midday bottle during an 8 hour day.  She may be overfeeding him, just like she may not.  DD took a bottle every 2 hours until she was on two meals of solids per day.

With all that being said, DD is 9 months and will take 4 4oz bottles at daycare including lunch.  But when I send 2 3oz bottles and 2 4oz bottles she is just as satisfied.  But if DH has her instead of daycare or if anyone else baby sits her she will only take 3oz in the same time frame.  I have no idea why she wants more while with DCP.

My last comment will be to ask your mom to burp LO halfway through the bottle.  That way he has to slow down when drinking and allow his body to get a full feeling.
