Drained.

I thought I had scheduled Gator's 1 year appointment only to realize I hadn't. They scheduled us for today. After my alarm not going off, rushing through getting ready, racing 25min to the Ped's office, and getting into the exam room late, I was sweating bullets. Then the nurse walked in, Gator lost her mind....this is the first time she has realized what is going on and was scared. She cried through the whole exam, with me having to hold her down for measurements and such. Then it was the MMR and Hep A shot, and telling me she had to have a lead and iron check. OMG that was awful!

I am used to the heel prick. But it took two nurses....one working and one holding her arm down.....and me tightly holding her whole body still. They put the band around her arm and she screamed like she was being tortured. It's very different seeing blood come out of your baby's arm, than a heel prick. It's heartbreaking watching while they struggle to get away and scream, knowing you cannot move them and comfort them with the needle in their arm.

Then I came home and because the appointment took almost two hours, the coffee in my coffee pot had shut off and was cold. So I opted for wine. It's only 2pm but I figured the Easties are hitting 5 o'clock.

  • Good lord, what a horrible day.  I'm sorry for both you and Gator.  I'd have hit the wine, too.  I hope that tomorrow is 100% better.

p.s. give Gator a treat, too.  Too soon for a taste of ice cream? Smile

  • I gave her a homemade zucchini muffin and she devoured it.....to her, that is as good as ice cream!

We had to have that done as well.  Only we went to LabCorp and I swear, those ladies were angels.  They somehow managed to get ger blood quickly.  Yes, I sat and hold her tight but since the appt wasn't with the other shots, she wasn't already upset.  The bad news is, I have to do it again in Jan because she's mildly anemic and they need a follow up test.
