If he's sick and not taking in enough fluids, I'd try to keep him hydrated with some pedialyte. Aria drinks about 4 ounces of diluted juice a day normally.
I give DD water with her dinner every day. She drinks maybe 1oz of plain water.
When she was sick last week, I was giving her pedialyte since she wouldn't take any food or fluids. I had to give it to her with a syringe. The pedialyte is better for replenishing nutrients that are lost from vomiting/diarrhea. And then up until yesterday (when the container of pedialyte ran out), I was mixing her bottles with 1-2oz of pedialyte and the rest water.

We had our 9 month appointment last week, and our pedi said that on a normal day, he should be given water 3 times a day, and he should drink 1 or 2 ounces of it each time. So, with a sick baby, I would say that still applies, but I don't know if I'd push it too much more because I would think the nutrients in formula or bm are really important with him being sick.
ETA: Before this, we were only giving him water once a day, and he would only drink about an ounce. I am trying to be conscience of this and give him more water.
