Just got back from RE. I need some serious advice.

This is my first cycle of injections.  I have 6 mature follicles.  I talked to the doctor and he said I need to make the decision on what to do.  I can trigger tonight but the risk of multiples is high.  DH and I are ok with twins but never thought about more than that.  RE is particularly worried about it not being healthy for me to carry more than 2.  There is a procedure to take them out if they all fertilize.  I morally do not know how I feel about this.  I put in a call on my way back to ask more about this procedure.  He did say the chances of this happening were about 5%. 

My RE said since I have already have a child and if I am not ok having the procedure then I should not do it.

I talked to DH, he says whatever is meant to happen will and to trigger tonight. 

Why does everything have to be so hard?

Has anyone had lots of mature follies?  What was the outcome?  With DD I had 2 mature.

I had six mature follicules with my first IUI and we decided to trigger anyway and I ended up with a BFN!  I think you need to go with your gut!  I feel like the gut is always right.

I had an iui with 5 mature follies...and I was insanely nervous during my 2ww and had nightmares of quads or quints. Lol. I was borderline relieved to see a bfn that cycle. So...I'm obviously no help, but that was my experience! :

I usually only have 1 or 2 mature follicles, never more than that. 

I just talked to my friend who is going through IVF and explained a little bit about the procedure to me.  I never even thought that those going through IVF would also be faced with this decision.  I am feeling a little more relaxed about this.  Now off to take DD to the dermatologist.

Having triplets from 3 mature follies and 1 that was close, 6 follies would be way too much of a risk, there is NO WAY I would trigger with that many. Selective reduction is a tough call, they wanted me to reduce to twins, but I just couldn't. They don't usually reduce until after the NT scans (they want to know if any of the babies are unhealthy or not viable and then they target those babies) but at that point you have moving babies, arms legs the whole bit. I just couldn't do it. Should you go ahead and not plan to reduce, triplet + pregnancies are very hard...and not everyone gets to take home babies, many are lossed or born too early to survive.

If it were me I would cancel the cycle, reduce your meds and try again.

My doctor called me back and we talked for a long time and he told me to go for it.  With my risk factors, the chances of me having more than 2 is very unlikely.

Then he calls me back with my estrogen level.  It was over 1900.  Apparantly that is very high.  Cycle cancelled.  He said next month might be as well since I may have cysts from be overstimulated.  I will start back on a lower dose.

I also forgot to mention, DH and I did the deed Sunday so it is possible I could still get pregnant. Out of my control now.

I think you made the right decision, as hard as I know that is. GL!

Ditto this. Wow 1900 that is at least 4-5 mature eggs. You for sure made the right choice. Good luck next cycle. Did your RE say they were going to lower your dose?

He said 1 follicle should be 150-200 estrogen so he was thinking I had more like 8-9.  They are going to lower the dosage next time.

Wow, what a day you have had!

I'm sorry that you were in this situation with your first inj cycle, but I'm relieved to read that you were cancelled in the end. I'll keep my fingers crossed that you don't have any cysts as a result and have to skip next cycle. ((HUGS))

Which RE did you talk to? I am under dr. M usually. All of this sort of answered my question in my post above about E2 levels.
