Crockpot mashed potatoes?

I've seen that you can use the crockpot you keep your already made mashed potatoes warm.  My concern is that they'd get crispy/stuck to the bottom. Has any real person (i.e. not some blogger from Pinterest) done this and how did they turn out.  Will keeping the crock pot on warm keep the browning/crisping at bay?

I have done this several times.  I spray my crockpot with cooking spray and then stir occasionally.  My crockpot tends to run really hot, so I do keep mine set at "warm" and I have not had any issues.

    Ditto the cooking spray.

I think this would be the biggest point - if you have an older CP that only does low or high, it wouldn't work.

  • I did it last year for Thanksgiving and they were great. I used a crockpot bag liner. I didn't want to deal with the clean up in case of browning, but I was a little concerned using the bag in general for something as heavy as potatoes that I needed to stir. I had no issues though. I think I left mine on low, but I have a pretty new crockpot and it was fine. I would definitely try it.
