So I gave birth on Thursday and still have not had my first postpartum poo. Lovely subject, right? I have tried everything. I took Milk of Magnesia a couple times and it gave me diarrhea so I guess it's not completely true that I haven't pooped. It just doesn't clear the blockage that's been in there for days. I've done stool softeners, laxatives, high fiber diet, water, apple juice, etc. I feel so sick now that I can't even eat or drink. I have a call in to my doctor so I'm waiting to hear back.
I am now thinking about a fleet enema. Anyone have experience with enemas? Are they safe while breastfeeding? Did it work? I hate the first postpartum poo. It was easier after my first DS. I am so done with having kids.
Re: The first postpartum poo - tmi warning
I have used both suppository and an enema (desperate times call for desperate measures). Both were recommended to me by my OB in that first week PP, so I would assume they were/ are safe for bfing moms.
The suppository was "neater" but the enema worked faster. Both poos were unsatisfying, though, but I had to get things moving.

Tried it, didn't work.
But the enema cleared you out completely though? I know what you mean by unsatisfying.
Funny!
Yeah, actually I think I realized there is just some pressure down there that makes it feel like I have to poo even though I don't.
Make sure it's cold and use a straw.
