Pregnant after a Loss

**BeHapy2Day** (sam update).

Hey there.  Just thought I would share this with you.  Sammy went to the vet today.. drew blood to check his red blood count again.. should have results tomorrow.  He's still eating like a horse. Drinking like a fish.  What I think is strange is that he's gained a lot of weight which I know happens with steroids but his head is still soooo bony!! I don't get it!!

The vet said it's just because steroids make you retain a lot of water and once we're able to taper him down a bit he shouldn't be so bloated.  So he's already down from 80mg/day to 40mg/day. He's hoping we can taper him back a bit more after the blood test.

But I remembered something interesting today!  Maybe 2-3 months ago I found this bug on our bed. LIke on top of our comforter.  I usually strip our bed.. mattress pad included.. and wash everything weekly because our dogs sleep with us a lot.  Anyway.. so I found this thing and I had never seen anything like it before.. I asked DH if it was a tick and he swore to me that it wasn't. (although he was going on my description).  While at the vets' today, I saw a poster on the wall with different bugs on it. I asked him if one of them was a tick because it's exactly the bug I saw!  Our vet confirmed that yes it IS a tick and that could be what's wrong with Sam.  Although, he said that we're already treating him for any disease he could have gotten from a tick.

Firstly, GROSS. It totally grosses me out to think that thing was in our bed. Secondly, my poor Sammy. I wish I would have recalled this earlier or thought to tell the doctor about it but I thought DH was right and I was crazy.  I called the ER hospital today and left a message for the doctor .. I just wonder if it would change her opinion in any way or change her course of action.  I mean at this point I'm thinking that's almost gotta be what happened..  cancer seems less likely knowing that.

  • I am so glad he's doing well. Smile I can totally imagine the tick grossing you out. B and C both sleep with us and the idea would freak me out too. I'm glad they seem to already be treating him for anything that might have been related to the tick, and I hope he continues to feel better!

He's my fairytale, a dream when I'm not sleeping.
