Normal?

I already talked to an on call dr to see if this was normal or if I should come in. He didn't seek too concerned but I'm a FTM and everything concerns me. I'm almost 21 weeks with twins and have just recently found out I have a shortened cervix, 1.7cm, and was put on progesterone gel. I didn't have any of these feelings until after being put on the gel so I assumed it was just from that. But I just don't know. Lately my stomach has felt hard all the time, not just sometimes like BH, and I feel "heavy" down there all the time. There's a lot of pressure and only seems to be comfortable when I'm laying down. Any thoughts?

Sorry about the long post, mobile doesn't like paragraphs.

Re: Normal?

  • If i were you i would demand to be seen or just go to ld! If u dont feel right trust your instincts !

  • I had the progesterone suppositories and they would give me BH after I put them in. I would go to L&D if you are worried though. I think all MoMs will say it's better to be cautious. It can be so hard to distinguish between what is normal and what is not.

  • The fact that you have the heavy feeling which could be pressure down there I would go to L&D.  If anything else hook you up to a monitor, check your cervix tell you fine and send you home.  Better safe now.. then sorry later.  Keep us posted!

  • I would go to L&D as well.  You don't want to risk going into labor so early, and they can stop it.  I am suprised you were not put on bedrest.  You should ask if they feel it will be beneficial.  Anythng to keep those babies cooking as long as you can! You only have a few more weeks to V-day!

  • i don't know if i'm too late in responding, but i had a similar feeling too.  i insisted that my dr do an ultrasound of my cervix and they discovered some funneling, where the cervix starts to open on the inside at around 22 weeks or so.  not saying this might be the case with you, but doesn't hurt to ask.  i was put on bedrest (very sad to not have to go to work :)) and stayed pg until 35 weeks.

    good luck!
