Lately I feel like people are coming out of no where telling me their horror stories of miscarriages, detached placentas, and other horrific things about losing their baby. I told my sister-in-law (who works in OB as a CNA) that my baby is the size of a mango today. She stated that she saw a mango today. I asked her if she was talking about the fruit and she shook her head no. She said the woman was 19 weeks pregnant and went into labor. I asked if that kind of stuff is common and she said "it happens all the time. I literally see it every day." Ok so I know she was being honest, which I appreciate. But I really wish she had never said anything in the first place. I am a natural worry wart and this crap does not help. Anyone else getting this from people? I feel horrible for them having bad experiences, but for real? You're telling me about this now for what? To ensure I won't sleep through the night? :-/

Re: Scary Stories
I know that preterm birth isn't exactly rare, but she must work at a seriously busy OB practice or a very large hospital to see a woman give birth to a micro preemie (or younger) every single day. But, I digress.
Yes, it does happen, but why tell you something like that so frankly?! If she's in that "industry" of course she is going to see a concentration of it. If you ask an air traffic controller if they see a lot of plane crashes or as a firefighter if they see a lot of fires - of course they do. Try not to worry about it, which is easier said than done, but its all you can do.
