Humidifier vs. Vaporizer

So which one do I really need? My go-to friend for baby advise says a vaporizer is best, but it seems that most registry guides suggest a humidifier. What is your experience? Also, please recommend yours if you like it...

    Not exactly sure what a Vaporizer is - I assume its the type of humidifier that you can put the little Vicks cube in so that it releases its vapors in the air?  I'd say probably not a great idea to be putting those chemicals in the air around a little baby.  I know those aren't safe for me now as a pregnant woman (my dr specifically said not to use it)....I generally think if its not okay for an adult, I def don't want it around my little baby.

    A cool mist humidifier is what we have and what our pedi recommended.
