Hi, I took my baby on a stroller today. It was so beautiful and sunny. We went 3 blocks, stopped to grab a quick lunch w DH and right back home again. However I worried that he may have felt cold. It was windy and I didn't expect that. He was wearing a long sleeve onesie, fleece pants, socks and booties, a cable sweater and warm hat and I had a bib and a blanket around him. But no jacket. I'm a FTM and this s the first time I take LO out when is cold. Oh it was 52 degrees.
I know I always worry bc he is a preemie and I don't want him to get sick.
Should I even avoid taking him out if it is un the low 50s even for a short ride? How many layers should he wear?
Btw he is 5 mo adjusted. Thanks!
Re: Dressing baby up to go out
This is it exactly. I remember taking my 25 weeker to her check up appointment post NICU. It was May in Ohio, so it was cool and breezy. I put about five layers on her, and I remember my Pedi (who I like very much) saying, "Does she look comfortable to you?" He was smiling. I am much more comfortable with my common sense now than I was in the beginning. Trust the mama instincts and don't let the doubts get in the way.
I agree with everyone else! I remember always wondering if DD was wearing enough, so you're not alone.
And 5m is very different from, say, 5 days old! They get much better at regulating their body temp around 6m, so I wouldn't worry.

I am sure he was fine. It was about that cold out today and we had our LO outside in a onesie, fleece pants, boots, and her fleece Columbia and she seemed just fine. If it is cooler and we are going for a walk I sometimes put her in a fleece pram and bring a blanket.
I know I worried about her temperature a lot more when she was younger but they get much better at regulating their temperature as they get older.
