I already have tons of non breakable ornaments for the bottom half of the tree (we have a cat). I am still paranoid she will pull on the branches and knock the entire thing over (we have a fake tree, so it's not very heavy). Are you skipping the tree this year? Going with a small tree on a table that baby can't reach? Winging it and saying no 4518506 times in the next few weeks? Just curious as to everyone's game plan.
Re: What are your plans for your Xmas tree?
We are using our usual fake tree & we have the baby gate around it. So far he doesn't care about it, at all. Maybe it will be a distraction to him when I get around to putting the ornaments on it.
There was no way that I was going to chance him getting into the tree over & over again for the next month. Battling DS & the dog water bowl is enough for this momma.
Baby Boy #2 is on the way!
I could in no way imagine not using my tree and doing a small one. I think I love Christmas too much, plus.. I think we will have years of little ones around for Christmas so it wouldn't be just for this year.
This for us! We also don't spend a ton of time in the living room where it will. We tend to spend most of the time in our loft that's basically her playroom. We will have a real tree, so it won't be up for more than a couple of weeks. I'm hoping she isn't overly interested in it ; a momma can dream, right?
DD1 was 10 months old her first Christmas. She liked to look at the lights, but totally left the tree alone. I'm just going to do what I do every year. It may be exciting for a day or two, but it will wear off fast.
I will note that I keep my ornaments and lights up a little from the bottom of the tree, but that is because my cat likes to try and electrocute himself every year.

This! Also, if you're worried about her pulling it over you could attach it to the wall with a rope, we had to do this one year when we had a real tree that didn't sit in the stand very well.
