9 month check up (and first word)!!

Gavin had his 9 month check up today! 

He weighed in at 14 lbs. 14.5 oz. (I was hoping for 15...so close!) and is now 26 3/4" long, and I am happy to report he is FINALLY on the chart for length (for his actual age)!  It was only the 3rd percentile, but still...he is catching up!  His head was in the 50th percentile (for actual age)! 

His weight is still not on the chart, but creeping closer, and since he's been gaining an average of almost a pound a month, the pedi is not concerned. Developmentally, he said he was within the normal range for his adjusted age, but a little closer to 6 months than 7 (he's about 7 1/2 months adjusted).  He said he is fine right now though and doesn't see any need for a program right now like Birth to 3 or occupational therapy. 

And on Wednesday, he said he first word!!  He's been babbling 'dadada' for a few weeks, but when DH came home from work on Wednesday, DS and I were in the living room and I said to him 'where's dada?'...DH was in the kitchen (where we couldn't see him) and when he came around the corner, Gavin said 'dada!'  I was so excited!  DH thought it was a fluke, but he said it again that night when DH came over to us while I was giving DS his dinner!  DH didn't say anything, but by the way he was beaming, you could totally tell he was touched :-)
