Baby Names

DD 2 needs a name- Cora?

I have a DD named Lyla and want a name with a similar feel- short, feminine, and classic. An older name-not too modern feeling. Our other favorite is Emma but I know, I know, it's sooooo popular.

Thoughts?

If you do like Cora, got any middle name ideas? I've got nothing. Emma would be Emma Katherine. Cora Katherine has a lot of "K-" sounds in it, though, I think?

Help please! I'll take suggestions but be kind. If you hate both my names my poor child may never get named at all.

Re: DD 2 needs a name- Cora?

  • I know two little sisters named Cora and Lila.  I really like Cora, but agree there are too many "k" sounds paired with Katherine.

    Cora Margaret

    Cora Josephine

    Cora Elizabeth

    Cora Evelyn

    Cora Louise

    Cora Juliet

I really love Emma despite its popularity.  Other suggestions:  Anna, Cara, Olivia, Kate (Katherine), Julia, Mia, Claire

  • Thanks for all the input so far!

I'd love to use a family name for her since Lyla's middle name is a family name from my side but I'm not sold on the family names from DHs side

Marilyn, Marianne, Norah (Cora Norah is no bueno!), Nancy, Marie.... I was trying to think of something starting with "M" since they have some many M names on his side....

  • My niece is named Cora LOVE it!  Her full name is Cora Belle.  I think it's darling. :)  My fav middle names for girls are Mae and Rose.  I think either of them could work with Cora!

  • I love Cora.

However, Emma is my fave girl name. Screw popularity!

  • That's the name we picked for our little girl due in April! DH has loved that name for years but I never fancied it, but all of a sudden now that we know its a girl, I love it! We are going with Cora Lynn, and I think we will even call her "Cora Lynn" :)

  • I love Cora, as that was going to be our girl's name.  We were going to go with Cora Elisabeth.  I get the feeling that Cora is going to be a hot new name in the next few years.

I agree with this. I think it's the go to choice now for Nora. I've seen a TON of newborn Cora's. Not saying this to dissuade you. I love it! But if you are choosing it over Emma just for popularity it's probably not worth it.
    Waiting for #3!

  • I really like Cora, I like Emma too but you are right it is very popular right now... but then again it's a classic and always will be.

Embarrassed  I kind of like Cora Catherine... I know alliteration is a no-no on here but we ended up naming DD Maya and her mn was already set as Marie (family name), and I've really come to love the M-M together.

Cora Elisabeth is really pretty together!

Agreed- Emma is my #1!  Cora is in my top 4 for me depending on the day. If you love Emma then don't settle!

Cora Elizabeth, Cora Lynn or Cora Ann.

  • I don't like Cora. I like Emma better but it's too popular for me. Sorry. What about something like Claire, or Paige? Short, feminine, and classic IMO. Lyla is cute!
  • I love the name Cora, and it will pair nicely with big sister's name.
  • LOVE Cora.  And I think it sounds great with Lyla.  I also don't mind Cora Katherine.  If you did Cora Catherine you could nn her CC, if you're into that kind of thing.

I think Cora will be getting more popular, but Lyla/Lila is pretty popular too.
