Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Baby doesn't sleep well!!

DD has not been sleeping well  through out the night since the last 1-2  week.

At first she used to sleep through the whole night but now she gets up so many times crying and whining that i dont even remember. Me and my husband can't sleep well either because of her. She gets up like every hour i think and the only way she will settle down is if i nurse her. Last night was horrible, she was getting up every 30 minutes and all she wanted to do was nurse.

We tried making her learn how to sleep on her own in her crib a few days ago but that didn't work at at all and i think me and my husband just gave up too easily on her and plus we weren't consistent. So basically she has been sleeping with us in our bed since the last 2 weeks because as soon she goes in her crib she cries and cries.

Oh yeah my husband just got this thought that maybe she is teething or something thats why she is not sleeping well. Could that be one of the reasons?

I need help mommies! How do i help her to put her to sleep easily and through out the whole night so me and my husband can also sleep well. I feel so depressed!!  I wanna make her learn to sleep on her own, which way do you suggest? I heard about a few. Which one worked for you? Help PLEASE!

  • Teething and growth spurts can both cause sleep disruptions. If LO is hungry, though, keep feeding her. It will pass.  Also, sleep training does not equal sleeping through the night. All it does it teach LO to sooth themself to sleep. But, if they are in pain or hungry, they'll still wake up.

  • Has she always slept with you, or just the last 2 weeks? I know Lucia sleeps terribly if we are in the room with her. She wakes up any time we move or roll over.

It doesn't sound normal or healthy for her to be waking up ever 30 min to hour. She needs bigger chunks of sleep than that. If you think its teething pain, have you tried advil? Or a call to your doctor to see if something is really wrong?

  • DS started doing that about 4 weeks ago, but he has never been a good sleeper anyway. His was all from teething. We gave him tylenol before bed after 4 nights of no sleep it worked!
