I have chronic lower back and shoulder pain. For the lower back I find that 1) a VERY hot shower with the massage setting on the shower head directed at the spot helps, 2) a thermacare heat pack (the sticky ones) helps, 3) making H pick up some of the goddamned slack helps.
I carry around a 45 pound Chris often. My back is screwed up I typically do pain meds and will put a heating pad on at night. My IL's gave us a heating pad made of rice that you warm up in the microwave. I love it and might have called MIL proclaiming my love for her one night after I used it!
a few months ago i had muscle spasms in my back. worst-pain-ever. i've always had a finicky back but lifting x has not helped. like everyone else has said, lots of heating pads, icy hot, and ibuprofen.
Chiropractic care. Instead of carrying a diaper bag I bought a really supportive backpack. I'm going to look into prenatal yoga too. Isn't Nate doing Anat Banial/Feldenkrais? Ask his practitioner to show you the proper way to bend and lift (especially when picking up Nate).
Regular chiropractic care and if thing flair up and I want to take something I'll take ibuprofen or Tylenol. I also am trying to get into the habit of stretching.

we lost our feldenkrais therapist becaue EI wanted everyone to have a bachelor's degree. who knew.
what everyone else is doing, i am doing. I tried out a flexible ice pack covered in fabric my sister had in her freezer and that helped. I am also doing the heating pad at night. My back feels ok after wasking up, but then by 10 am it starts to ache. By 3 pm, it. is D.O.N.E.
the darn car seat kills my back all the time. Whenever I put DS1 in my mom's car I pay for it for days. She had a lincoln with side air bags so you had to lean in about a foot to reach the car seat. DS1 is still rear facing and it was abominable. She got a new car and it's a bit better but still more difficult than our small car.
It's one of the difficulties of extended rear facing.
i use muscle relaxers and tramadol for pain managment. Hot showers, long warm baths, and stretching.
To my boys: I will love you for you Not for what you have done or what you will become I will love you for you I will give you the love The love that you never knew

HIIT...specifically I'm doing the Stroller Srtides Body Back classes. You need to get back to normal first, but honestly, just after 6-7 weeks of exercising (mostly conditioning) I feel a million times better and have had very little of my typical neck/knee/hip pain. Lifting and carrying my kiddos all the time is hard work and I finally got around to doing something about me since even though DS keeps getting stronger and better, he's not going to be as independent as his peers for a long time which means much more wear and tear on my body. Hope your back is feeling better soon.
My back has been really F-ed up mostly since pregnancy with P. I got so huge and my torso is really short and i'm only 5'1. Then I did the whole back to back pregnancy thing and now it's so awful. I go to a chiro sometimes but it never sticks. I have H pick me up and crack my back sometimes. I have a lot of upper neck/headache issues but my back itself always hurts in the dead center in the middle. P is about 35 lbs and can often be dead weight, so to speak.

Have you tried a massage?
