going from wrap to carrier

I'm new here so sorry if this has been asked a million times. I currently wear my 4 month 14lb baby in a moby type wrap. Ive been very happy w it but am looking to move to a carrier that I can slap on and go and will adjust w his growing size. At what age do people usually go for a carrier rather than a wrap? I use the wrap for getting stuff done around the house while baby naps and for errands and longer walks on the wknd. Ive seen the Ergo mentioned on here several times but it seems quite pricey compared w cheaper options like infantino three in one.any opinions or insight would be greatly appreciated. TIA!

I use wraps as long as I'm wearing - but woven ones not stretchy ones.  My siggy links have some info that you might find helpful.  Infantino has some ergonomically correct carriers now which are a good budge option - I do feel there's a difference in the quality of the materials and you would likely feel a comfort difference with a heavier child.  The best thing is to see if you have a babywearing group near you to try some things on - buckle carriers in particular can be tricky to get the best/most comfortable fit.

BTW - the Infantino Sash, Support, and Union are all ergonomic (knee to knee support for baby) - they still sell others I wouldn't recommend.  You may also think of the price difference as compared to other baby products - most of the time a $100 stroller is nicer than a $30 one - both will, however, move your baby.

The Moby wrap is our first love.  But we also use the Beco Gemini, and have been using it since baby was 2 months.  The fit is similar to the Moby, but it's a little sturdier, so useful for when mama is doing more active chores.  The 'seat' is adjustible, so baby is always supported all the way to his knees, just like the Moby.  Also, there is no fabric separating mama and baby, so it has the same close, cozy feel.
