She is not a troll. Like her or not, NL has been around for a long time and she has been part of this board on a regular basis. Her opinions are vastly different from many, only slightly different from others. That's life - not a troll.
Are her opinions sometimes "offensive"? Yes. If you don't agree with her. If you agree with her you probably think she is brilliant. Does she have the right to her opinions? Yup on that one too. With one very notable exception (and I don't think it needs to be rehashed), her opinions have been expressed in a manner that is (Internet) acceptable. Annoying? Maybe. But again - that is a matter of opinion.
Is she trying to bait us by being contrary all of the time? Maybe. Maybe not. Does it matter? It is "our" fault for reacting/responding, etc. If she is looking for a reaction and doesn't get one - she will eventually stop. If this is just who she is - then ignore her posts or better yet - block her.
While I generally don't have a problem with any one post or any one response to NL - I think the thread in its entirety actually reflects badly on "us" as a board community. It gives the appearance that there is a group think mentality going on to bully her. I doubt that is the intention but... it is how it reads IMO.
Soon to be Big Sister Eowyn - DOB February 2012
My family is a Foreign Service family. Families like mine are posted in every corner of the globe. We live our lives away from family, friends and the conviences and comforts of home. We often live and work in dangerous places among those that misunderstand our intentions and purposes. Sometimes members of our ranks sacrifice our lives to further diplomacy. Please remember that we serve too. And I'm always open to questions.
If NL was a troll she'd ONLY post to start trouble. I mean she would even start a troublesome thread. (Ever see HayJaime or Jaimejewlz - same person - in Dec12?) NL doesn't do that. Granted she is very opinionated and doesn't say it as eloquently as we would all like, but she does post positively quite often too. Maybe she's just a very argumentative person?

I couldn't agree more. What annoys me more than just scrolling past her ignorance is the 95 follow up posts of people reacting and letting the nonsense take over an entire thread. It's like when as a kid your sibling is antagonizing a fight. Mom would say just ignore him and he will stop.
It just seems to me like she is feeding off drama at this point, kind of like this board is now her life and entertainment, it seems a bit extreme and unbalanced. Just my perspective.

I agree with this. Even her post yesterday in the UO post I didn't think was bad (which I said in that thread). I don't agree with her general point of views on life it seems, but just because she and I have different beliefs doesn't mean she's a troll. I don't even think she's necessarily trying to bait the rest of the board. She has very strong opinions and doesn't hold back on them at all. I also agree with Nory that it reflects poorly on "us" to even call her a troll. Just because someone disagrees with the majority doesn't mean they should be run off. Do I think NL has crossed lines in the past? Yes. Do I wish that she would consider the impact of her words more before she "says" them? Yes. Do I find it amusing that she so openly judges people, then rushes to the defense of the people who the majority judges? Definitely. But that's her, that's how she's always going to be, and nothing any of the rest of us say or do will change that.
When I read her posts I of course remember what she's posted in the past - as I do with any poster who has made an impression on me - and while it effects how I interpret her posts I try not to just assume she's being contrary or difficult for the sake of being contrary or difficult and respond honestly, which is why I said in the UO thread that I didn't really see the issue with what she said. I participated in the other thread yesterday - and afterwards wished that I hadn't - but I don't see the point in constantly analyzing her. We all know how she comes across on here, so if you think she's a troll don't respond to her. If you find her so horribly offensive that you don't think she's worth your time of day, don't respond. I choose to read her posts and just voice (in a way that hopefully doesn't come across as attacking her) whether I agree or disagree.

A post like this deliberately causes drama. Much more troll-like than anything NL ever does. Enough. Let it go. Don't like her? Don't read her posts. Don't respond. But please, don't add to the drama.
I don't always agree with noryang, but in this case she is absolutely correct.

FFS, even I'm bored with this. Can we please move on? What's the point of this, even? If she is a troll, she's going to stick around regardless of the poll results. If she's not, she's probably going to be upset about this post and lash out. Either way I'm not sure what you're trying to accomplish.
I'm surprised so many people voted. If you don't like drama, stop creating it and feeding into it.
