Cloth Diapering

Rockin Green or Charlie's Soap?

I'm sure this post is up here somewhere else, but I am 3 weeks postpartum and lack the ability to google anything without falling asleep.  :)  We are cloth diapering with BG 4.0 and FuzziBunz.  DS is only 3 weeks old and I'm (impatiently) waiting for him to put on just a little more weight until we start using the CDs.  I want to get them prepped and ready because I am SO sick of disposables, and I've heard good things about both of these detergents.  Any recommendations of one over the other?  Thanks in advance for your help!

  • I've actually read not so great reviews on both but I'd definitely go with Charlies btwn those too. Just made sure you're using enough- it's VERY mild. Use what you would use for a normal size load of laundry, dont skimp!

  • I've been using Charlie's on our BGs and FBs, and I haven't had any issues so far.  We've only had her in CDs for a month (I usually do a load per day), but they always come out fresh, clean and unstained!

  • Charlie's gave DD a terrible rash. I haven't tried Rockin' Green.

  • I'm a huge fan of Charlie's. you only need a tiny amt of the deterrent. 1tbs each load. My diapers always are super clean. Rng left horrible build up on my diapers and there were a couple times that it did not wash them properly. There was plain poop still on the diapers.

  • We have hard water and Charlie's didn't cut it for us. I switched to RnG, but I still have to use a ton.

  • Charlie's was okay.  I didn't have any major issues.

That being said, I am now going back to Tiny Bubbles.  It works a lot better for me, and my hard water.

Do yourself a favor, whichever one you go with, buy only one regular sized container.  Regardless of the price savings, it's better to test it out for a month or two before deciding.  Your little one could have a bad reaction to a detergent, or it could cause build-up issues.  You won't know until you start using it for a few weeks and see what happens.
