roasted apples and pears

I bought some apples and pears, and I want to roast them all at once. I'm just wondering if they will be okay to freeze?

Re: roasted apples and pears

  • Are you going to puree them or leave them whole (or halved)? Pureed they would definitely be fine to freeze. My only concern with freezing them with the intent to eat them whole later is that they'd defrost all mushy.

  • I always have a stash of apples and pears in my freezer. I bake them, pure them, and freeze them in ice cube trays. Once they're frozen I pop them out and put them in ziplock bags, the kind you can suck the air out of. They always taste great! Haven't tried them any other way. I agree with PP, they may get mushy if you try to keep them whole...
  • Well I wanted to leave them whole and put them in ziploc sandwich bags. I could always puree them though.

  • Yes they freeze really well. Even if you pure them or leave them cored and remove the skin before freezing they will be good.
