Ruptured appendix while pregnant!?!

That's right ladies, my appendix ruptured! Thank god the body is an amazing thing because the infection contained itself to an abscess that they were able to drain instead of having surgery.  It was so scary! My baby is a strong one and the doctors have told me a hundred times that he/she is unaffected by all of this.  I stayed in the hospital for 5 days on a strong dose of antibiotics and fluids. They put in a PICC line, which is an IV I came home with to administer the antibiotics at home.  The reason I share is because the appendicitis didn't present itself the way it would a non-pregnant person.  I had a really bad pain in my back that wouldn't go away.  The baby pushed my appendix to a different spot.  Not saying all back pain is appendicitis, just to listen to your body and if you have pain that won't go away, insist on every test there is, it took them a week to learn what was wrong with me. I'm a very lucky woman and happy to be recovering on my couch. Hope all is well with the rest of you and I'm looking forward to enjoying my pregnancy again, now that this mess is over!

I can't believe it took them a week to figure out what was wrong! So scary, but glad they DID find out in time. Hope you get lots of rest and heal quickly!!!

Wow, glad everything is ok! Mine ruptured when I was in high school...emergency surgery, huge scar, almost died, etc. I can't imagine it happening while pregnant!

When I was 30 weeks pregnant I was having major pain on my side going to my back. After one day I went into the hospital they said without giving me a scan it could be my kidneys sent me home told me to drink water. A week later I couldn't walk I was screaming in pain and went back and they finally gave me a scan and she came back said my appendix have completely ruptured. So the surgery doctors came to talk to me they said they were not going to take my appendix out cause they would have to take my baby out. So they put a tube in my back to drain my appendix so the fluid wouldn't go to my baby kill him. I was in the hospital for about 2 weeks wen I finally got to go home. I had to keep the tube in. So I couldn't go to school anymore. After about a month the tube was leaking and they gave me another scan found a teeny tiny gallstone but he told me I would pee it out I think I did already. And after 2 month of having the drain tube in the took it out of my back. And then 2 weeks later I was 45 centimeters dialated my doctor said I had mild pre eclanpsia so they induced me and broke my water then wen they checked to see how much I dialated she said I had a syst but it popped when I deliverd . And at 3:09am I had my Babyboy. We had to stay an extra day in the hospital cause he had jaundice. So they had to keep drawing his blood. But he's good and as healthy as can be now. He's a month and a half. Born at 39 weeks3 And Me? I still haven't had my surgery not till June 10th. I'm scared cause I've never had surgery. But my first pregnancy story is bad. It makes me not want anymore kids cause I don't know what else can go wrong
