Why is OCTOber the 10th month?  Wouldn't it make more sense as the 8th month?

The same reason DECember is the 12th month. Julius Ceasar decided to add months, cuz he needed one named after him, and one after Ceasar Agustus. Or maybe it was Agustus that did it?

OCT, NOV, and DEC should clearly be 8, 9 and 10, respectively.
