Betas Quadrupling?

So, at first I was super excited. First beta 17dpo, 561. Second, 20dpo, 2291! I was thrilled that they were super high. Now the more I read and talk to friends, the more I'm freaking out a little that it could be twins?

I know none of you can answer for me, and I have an u/s tuesday so we'll get a peek I hope. But I'm curious if anyone had a doubling time as fast aas 30 hours or so for just one baby? Or if anyone knows of any reason that could make them double that fast? (I'm on progesterone supplements but I don't think that can affect hcg levels?)

Did they give you your Progesterone level? My RE always told me that's the number that is more indicative of multiples. However, since you're on supplements I don't know if that is true in this case. Yeah, so basically I'm no help:)

progesterone was lowish for start (9?) but they said they weren't even going to check it on the second draw since I'm on prometrium and it would skew the results.

Talk to vanessa lynne. She's on this BMB and has high betas and just had an u/s revealing twins. She might have more answers for you!

Did you put your numbers in the beta calculater?  Your doubling time is 35 hours which is about average.  The numbers usually double within 48 hours.  I don't think you have anything to worry about but who knows- twins would be wonderful!  GL!

i got back 30 hours, which seemed pretty low to me, but I'm sure I'm just being silly!

I guess you will find out at the ultrasound!  My ultrasound is that day as well- cant wait!  My numbers were a bit high, too but I'm just hoping it means I'm having a girl lol!

My doubling time as less than 24 hours and twins never crossed my mind. 20 DPO puts you right before 5 weeks, and here is the range of normal for early pregnancy:

3 weeks LMP: 5 - 50 mIU/ml4 weeks LMP: 5 - 426 mIU/ml5 weeks LMP: 18 - 7,340 mIU/ml6 weeks LMP: 1,080 - 56,500 mIU/ml

 As you can see for 5 weeks you aren't even halfway to the highest number. Also, super high betas don't always mean twins. You don't necessarily have twice as much HCG for two babies. You may just have high HCG. Try not to freak out until your ultrasound.

We did IVF, first beta 756, second 1,310, third 4,056. First u/s twins. But I have also seen high betas and a singleton. They didn't test my proges. either bc of supplements. We are super excited about twins and were hoping for twins. GL to you!

Mine at 23 DPO were 8,250 and we had our first u/s yesterday and saw one little bean.

For right now I would just take it as a sign of a healthy and thriving pregnancy With my twins, my betas were 308 on 16dpo and 849 on 18dpo. I saw betas much higher than those that led to healthy singletons, though, and you can find plenty of twin pregnancies with slower doubling times. It is really hard to generalize based on betas, other than that multiples tend towards higher initial values and faster doubling times, but there is certainly no formula and the range for both healthy singleton pregnancies and healthy multiples pregnancies is so wide and overlaps so much.
