Ensure?

Is anyone else drinking a protein/supplement shake to keep up with calorie needs? My doctor said to add one since my LO doesn't want to eat meat. I bought Ensure which has worked for me before but I have the worst re-tasting reflux going on... sorry if that is TMI. What are you drinking/eating?

I have tried the Special K/Kellog ones I think they were the best tasting out of all of them (ensure and I dont remember the other name), but the least protein (I was drinking them for protein not calories) otherwise go get the powder and make your own shakes! That's always much tastier AND cheaper!

I think they push ensure becuase Abbot makes them lol.

I'm not that big on meat. So i've been drinking Silk Fruit & Protein, I drank Ensure a few times as well, and i've been eating nuts/ beans to substitute.

My doctor just suggested Carnation Instant Breakfast in the morning... at first I tried the chocolate ones, but sometimes they feel a little too "thick" for me.  It seems more successful when I use the vanilla in a smoothie with fresh and frozen fruit.

I had to when I was pregnant with DS, I drank Ensure and the Carnation Instant Breakfast things-I had one with every meal for most of my pregnancy. I also drank a lot of smoothies to try to add more healthy calories.

This time around I am doing really good but I was very underweight with DD and did those drinks. I always had to drink them over ice since they were so thick. Maybe try a different flavor to help with the, er, second drink experience?

I drink a milk chocolate Ensure Protein Plus drink every morning the minute I get out of bed. It curbs my morning nausea and allows me to skip taking a Zofran until later in the day.

Yesterday I didn't drink one in the morning (ran out) and it completely screwed me up for the whole day. I had trouble eating because of the nausea and got a terrible headache.

Not saying it's "the cure" for pregnancy ails but I certainly won't be taking it for granted again. I've been having trouble eating a substantial amount of food and so this helps supplement me as well.

I happen to enjoy the thickness of it. It reminds me of the whole milk chocolate-milk my mom used to buy once a year for my birthday from the grocery store. However, the after taste is not so great so I brush my teeth AFTER drinking to avoid that unpleasantness.

I understand how you feel I bought some for the sme reason food was not my friend but it seems that it has an after taste that is horrible and I just couldn't do it anymore.
