I'm on a roll today - sorry, another question re: going down to sleep
Sorry, I finally got LO down and have a few minutes to be on the computer (since I hate mobile bumping)
So, as much as I swore I wouldn't do it, we've gotten into the habit of holding LO until he goes to sleep (he's 3.5 weeks old) I want to break this habit asap, but the last two days have been non-stop screaming (I'm hoping it's not colic) so we haven't been so successful. How have you ladies gotten your LO to just go down? We put him in the crib today for a nap and accidently did CIO for 6 minutes. I say accidently because he was sleeping but then woke up, and DH was in shower and I was pumping, so we couldn't pick him up right away. He screamed for 6 minutes, stopped, and then started crying again 5 minutes later. But didn't fall asleep. I don't want to let him CIO yet, I think he's too small - but any other advice/thoughts?
Sorry this is so long!

This. I always rock her to sleep.
I agree they can't self-soothe and I personally love rocking him but am a bit concerned that I'll spend all day on the couch just rocking him! I think I'm looking more towards putting him down once he is drowsy, as opposed to letting him CIO (Which I am completely against at this point) Even that though has been an epic fail for us, even if he's slightly drowsy he wakes right up when I put him down!
As PPs have said, they can't self-soothe at this age and there's nothing wrong with cuddling your newborn. It won't create a habit just yet.
For us it happened as a complete fluke. I put LO wide awake in his PNP because I needed to do something. H was in the shower. I went to check up on LO about 10 minutes later and he had conked out. I knew then that LO was capable of falling asleep on his own so now I put him down when he's drowsy.
Same as what all the PP's said. Plus I love holding her watching her fall asleep and make faces and smile. Remember it won't last long
lol yeah I'm still here at 8 weeks. Although at night I normally rock her in her RNP vs on my person, making some eye contact at the beginning so she knows I'm still there.
