Thoughts on this birthday party theme

A's birthday is the 19th of December and I was thinking of doing a candy cane theme.  I do want it to not scream Christmas though.  I have found lots of cute plates and other party supplies that would work.  I could make cupcakes woth crushed candy canes and give away peppermint bark as party favors.

Is it too Christmasy or do you think it is a cute theme for a December baby?

Thanks for your feedback and ideas!!!!!

It's expired now, but if I get another one, do you want it?

  • Does your child have something that they really love????  If they do, I would do that theme and not anything close to Christmas.  Just my thought.  What ever you do will be fine.
  • Cute idea.  None of my kids liked peppermint when they were little though.  I would probably opt for using cherry flavored candy canes instead of peppermint.

Candy canes are very Christmasy...but hey...it's December and it's cute.  Do what you want.

She will be only 2 and there isn't anything that she is just crazy about.  The two of us share the same day as birthdays so I am totally aware of avoiding Christmas stuff for birthdays, but I think that she is still so young that she won't care just yet.  That and it would easy to do.  There are plenty of birthdays left for Princess and Backyardigan parties and I am sensitive enough to not have her pick out a gift from under the tree with her name on it for her birthday gift.  That last point actually happened to me when I was 13.

  • I think it sounds really cute!
  • None of my kids have birthdays at Chrismtas time...but picking out your birthday gift from a pile of Christmas presents is just mean.  My MIL's birthday is the 24th and I ALWAYS make sure her gift is wrapped in VERY birthday looking paper and is something that is very personal (like an item of clothing, etc).  Unfortunately, she gets it on Christmas day though.  She lives out of state and in a nurisng home.  I still do that to this day and she is in her 80's!
