Truewomb weaning swaddle

My son needs to be swaddled to sleep but he also tries to break out so that he can suck on his hand. I'm thinking it is time to start weaning him but he will only sleep for 45 minutes to an hour without the swaddle. Fine for naps, not great at night since he is STTN now or at least 12 hours with one feeding in there.

So I found these and I was wondering if anyone has tried them. I would like something that keeps his hands from completely going up and startling him but that allows him to self sooth if he wants to.  I've also seen the zipadeezip and wondered if that would work.  the idea is basically the same.

 Any input?

ETA I've tried swaddling with one arm out and he hates it.

Re: Truewomb weaning swaddle

  • I've never used what you linked, but can you swaddle with one arm out? At work I swaddle babies who need their arms out frequently. I just lay the baby like normal on the blanket, then wrap the side of the blanket with the arm you are keeping out under the armpit and then swaddle like normal. If you swaddle tight enough around the arm, it works well at least or the babes I work with a tight swaddle, binkie and patting their backs is like gold!.
