Thoughts...have you used Thirsties Duo Diapers size 1? I am considering buying some that are used (for less than one year) for a great price. These have snaps. I have never CD before and my baby is due in July.
I had a size 2. I hated it, leaked every time for us. I don't have it anymore :
Pretty much this. I just got two size 2s. I was trying to use them for overnights but then DD wakes up at 2 or 3am crying because she's all wet.
I haven't use them during the day yet. I probably won't get rid of mine. I'll just use them for daytime and change sooner than normal if needed. I wouldn't get a whole stash of them.
The Duo wrap is awesome though. I put a prefold in it and I've never had a leak.

I've been able to use the size 1 AIOs since DD was about 2 weeks old. We've never had a leak with any of them, plus they dry quickly and you can put extra inserts underneath the attached one if you need to (though I'm not sure how bulky they'd be, we've never had to).I feel like because of the way the insert is attached, it dries much faster than other AIOs.
The snaps are okay, but I usually grab the Aplix ones if I'm using them overnight because I feel like I can get the fit a little more customized for DD's skinny thighs.
I'm still waiting for them to fit my 11 lb boy. I keep trying them but they just don't fit right. I even tried just one insert because I thought the bulk was causing the awful fit.
I liked ours at first and even bought more size 1's, but now they seem to leak with large voids. I have one size 2 and won't buy any more. They also take a long time to dry compared to the other various pockets I own. I love love love the Thirsties diaper covers which have double gussets and never leak, but unfortunately, the Duo's do not and don't fit as well. It's a bummer because they are affordable and cute.
If you are looking to have an affordable diapering system, I'd try prefolds with Thirsties covers. You can get way more bang for your buck and for newborns that have large blow outs, the Thirsties covers work great- we have had very few poops and pees that have extended beyond those covers. We use GMD prefolds and love the workhorses.
