Skin break outs!

Hello,

My skin is breaking out with painful, deep acne!  Does anyone have any suggestions on products to treat acne during pregnancy.  Gentle cleansers and moisturizers are not cutting it!  I'm aware that I no longer can use products containing BHA's like salicylic acid.  I want to avoid benzoyl peroxide because of its annoying tendency to ruin your clothes, sheets and towels!  Any information would be wonderful!

Re: Skin break outs!

  • I used cetaphil soap to wash off my makeup then clean & clear deep action scrub to exfoliate.  I finished with cetaphil lotion but only used it at night because it made my face feel greasy.  I also covered my pillow with a clean towel each night so I wasn't sleeping in grease from the night before.  First trimester my skin was pretty bad but second and third my skin looked the best it ever has.

  • I agree with the clean towel everynight on top of your pillow.  It definitely helped me when I was pregnant!  I also used Mary Kay microdermabrasion 1-2 times a week.

  • Hi! I had the same problem..and still fighting with it now that Im breastfeeding so I feel you!  I stuck with Cetaphil-they have a foaming cleanser I liked- and use their moisturizer. I got a RX from the dermatologist but that really didnt help much, but is worth a try.I feel like I tried everything and nothing really helped (sorry!) - it was just hormones being crazy...and they are still reacting to all the changes going on.

Now that I'm no longer pregnant, Ive been using benzoyl peroxide the past few days and starting to see some results. I've read mixed things about using it during pregnancy so check out.

Wish I had better advice! Good luck!

  • My skin has always been sensitive and temperamental (always a pimple or two, but no big breakouts, except a few more around period time d/t hormones) but, since becoming pregnant, it's gotten much worse. I invested in a Clarisonic. So far it seems to be helping a lot, but I am waiting to see if it really gets rid of the painful pimples that I have been getting along my jawline. It's definitely decreased the size of my pores and I haven't really noticed any new breakouts. Kind of expensive, but if it works it is definitely worth it to me!
