This is a place for anyone in the waiting-to-adopt phase to check in.  Lurkers welcome! Whether you're still checking out different agencies and programs or you're bringing your child home tomorrow, this is for you!

    1) What kind of adoption/fostering are you doing? Ages?

    Foster-to-Adopt 0-2 or International Adoption

    2) In what phase of the process are you?

Waiting for foster classes to begin in January / submitted a preliminary application for international adoption

    3) Any recent accomplishments or milestones to celebrate?

The preliminary application was pretty big for us but we realized we can't really get any further information at this point until we take that step.  If we are approved we can meet with the agency and ask them all of our questions.

    4) How are you feeling this week?

Nervous/Hopeful - I would love this to work out but at the same time I just don't know if it will

    5) QOTW: Do you have a pet?  Post a pic if you have one!

I used to have a pet, my sweet cat passed away in February.  Here is a picture of her, she was so gorgeous and the sweetest girl!

    SN from China, 12-24m

    2) In what phase of the process are you?

    Fundraising & education

    3) Any recent accomplishments or milestones to celebrate?

Almost done with our new adoption blog... and writing our first official fundraising letter

    4) How are you feeling this week?

Excited and nervous about the holidays. Family hasn't been completely supportive of our adoption plan, and now we have to tell them the hows and whys of switching from DIA to IA... Could be good. Could be bad. Oh so very bad.

    5) QOTW: Do you have a pet?  Post a pic if you have one!

Yep, a 4-year-old miniature pinscher named Roxy (pic is from when she was only 1, so she looks very puppy-ish).

    DIA

    2) In what phase of the process are you?

Waiting very impatiently for our homestudy to be approved...any day now.

    3) Any recent accomplishments or milestones to celebrate?

Our profile books came in Wednesday!  So as soon as our homestudy is approved this week we will be officially "waiting"!

    4) How are you feeling this week?

I've had a really bittersweet weekend...now I'm just tired.  I might update here later, but My blog will explain it all.

    5) QOTW: Do you have a pet?  Post a pic if you have one!

These are us and our dogs, Chloe and Lucky.  I brought Chloe home from the litter almost 8 years ago, she is truely MY dog.  Lucky was rescued when she was 5, that has been almost 4 years now, she is a very lazy, mellow dog that almost reminds me of a cat.  She gets spoiled badly by DH, and is truely his dog.

  • 1) What kind of adoption/fostering are you doing? Ages?

    DIA

    2) In what phase of the process are you?

Just heard from our lawyer this evening that we are 2-3 weeks away based on some medical info (don't want to be too graphic)

    3) Any recent accomplishments or milestones to celebrate?

Decided to just pick everything up that we will need by the Walmart close to the hospital, this way we are not lugging anything on the plane and if things don't work out we just won't pick up the stuff we have waiting for us.  Also got a ton of hand me downs from my cousin this past week, so feeling good about all the clothes we will need while we are way, including a court outfit.

    4) How are you feeling this week?

Feeling ok.  Left a couple of messages for our EM but didn't hear back, although not concerned.  Also bought a thanksgiving card for our EM because it perfectly states how thankful we are for her.

    5) QOTW: Do you have a pet?  Post a pic if you have one!

We keep saying that we will get a pet once our child is old enough to pick out the one they want.

    4) Depressed.  We just received word that our agency did get a referral for a boy in our age range, but it wasn't for us.

    5) We have a small farm including: a donkey, goats, chickens, a rabbit, a guinea pig, a dog, cats, a tortoise, and several fish tanks.  Too many for pictures
