Small things and stocking stuffers get wrapped, larger gifts (like the desk in PP) don't get wrapped. Thankfully my kids aren't old enough to question it yet!
Santa NEVER wrapped my gifts growing up. Last year, he didn't wrap Mason's gifts because he was too young to really get not unwrapping. This year, most toys will be set up (play kitchen, car ramp), but Santa might wrap a few as well for the fun of tearing paper.

I should have chosen SS. He doesn't wrap big items like last years play kitchen- things that size cuz I'm too lazy and cheap for that and he doesn't wrap stocking stuffers cuz technically they're hidden inside the stocking anyways.
Yes, and if it is too big to be wrapped it'll be hidden and they'll have to do a scavenger hunt to find it. At least, once DD is old enough to do that sort of thing.
One year I got a snowboard for Christmas and I opened up a small package to find a lump of coal (I probably deserved the coal more than the snowboard to be honest). With the coal was my first clue. I ran around the house finding clue after clue after clue until finally found the snowboard. It was great! I remember that Christmas more than any other. My parents did it for my siblings too and it was fun to chase and watch them work it out. I can't wait to do it for DD. They also hid Easter baskets that way, ah fun times, I miss being a kid.

My grandma still does this for me! Lol, I love that she still wants me to be her little granddaughter
I'm one of those odd people that actually have fun wrapping gifts, so Santa has special wrapping paper, and extra pretty bows. Stocking stuffers just go straight in the stocking though.
Santa always wraps his gifts in plain red paper. That's how we know they're from Santa. ;-)
