Audio vs. Visual baby monitors

How do we feel about the video baby monitors?  Are they just a bit too much or do those that have them really find them to be useful?

  • Before I had a baby I thought it was an over the top item! But my husband bought one w/ a gift card he had to best buy. Well he was right, it's great. When she is noisy I can stay in bed and see if I need to get up!

  • We had a basic audio monitor when dd was born. She had HORRIBLE reflux, so I constantly wanted to have a visual of her. So we ditched the audio and bought a video. Best purchase EVER. She is 2.5 and we still use it!
Married my BEST FRIEND on December 1, 2007. Started TTC in March 2008. Found out we were expecting our first child in October 2008 - but had a m/c in December 2008 - resulting in a d&e. Met with a RE in May 2009 and set a plan - but conceived unexpectedly on our own! Our precious little Sophia was born on February 9, 2010! Lilypie Third Birthday tickers

I definitely need the video monitor, it makes a huge difference being able to see the baby and know if she is actually waking up or just making noise in her sleep, because she will wake up if I go in to check on her.  I'm sure I'll also appreciate it when she starts rolling over onto her stomach.

We actually don't need an audio monitor, because her room is right next to ours and we can hear when she cries.

This!  Our LO is loud and I like being able to see if she is really sleeping.  Our video monitor is easily one of my favorite baby purchases.

    This!

i babysit my 6 week old nephew (sisters DS) and he is a noisy sleeper! He talks, cries and constantly moves in his sleep, even when swaddled! My sister has the  motorola video minotor and it makes life very easy! I sit in the living room and watch LO... Works so much better than just an audio one!
