Three meals a day yet?

Today I am experimenting with babyfood/oatmeal for LO for breakfast, lunch and dinner.  He just doesn't seem satisfied lately.  He will take 6oz of formula about every 3 hours, sometimes 2.  I tried 7oz for a few days but he seemed to spit up a lot like he was too full.  Has anyone started 3 meals and does your LO seem more satisfied and go longer between bottles or nursing?

Re: Three meals a day yet?

  • My 6 mo old DD is eating three small meals per day (about half of the container of stage 2 Gerber food, sometimes I mix a little baby oatmeal in) and about 30 oz. of formula per day.  She seems pretty satisfied....Oh and she just started eating puffs and LOVES them.

  • We are at three meals a day, usually with oatmeal mixed in. He doesn't seem to be wanting the bottle lately, and is down to about 20 oz a day. He just doesn't want them! I asked the doc and they said he is just weaning himself a little early, as long as he is gaining weight, peeing enough, and seems happy, just go for it!

  • Our babies both are eating 6oz of formula 5x per day with solids 2x per day. They have a fruit with oatmeal in the AM and a veggie in the PM.  Right now they seem good with that.

  • We do 3 meals. His breakfast is a full container 3.5 oz of gerber 2nd stage pureed fruit mixed with some oatmeal, lunch is 1/2 a container of a veggie of some sort and a 6 oz bottle, and dinner is 1/4 container veggie with cereal or oatmeal and a 6 oz bottle. He gets two 6 oz and one 8 oz at other points during the day. one first thing in the morning, one a few hours after breakfast, and the 8 oz right before bed. We had to increase the amount of food each meal as well as the amount of formula in every bottle because he wasn't satisfied, but now he is happy after each feeding and can go 3 to 4 hours between feedings.

  • We are still doing 2 meals a day, someone told me that they read by 8 months you should be up to 3 meals.  Right now mine take about 22 ounces, oatmeal with 2oz fruit, and then 3oz veggie, and 3 oz fruit for dinner.  They seem full on that!

  • My guy is eating at least 2 meals a day, and more often 3. He will be 6 months on Nov. 16th. He eats a TON. He generally eat 2, stage one "pouches" of baby food per sitting. I am sure he needs it, because even with a huge milk supply, he wants to eat this much and will get fussy to eat solids at about 11:30 am and 5:30 pm. My other two kids were not at all like this, I think each kid is different. He is also really big, at 5 months he was just shy of 23 pounds and was 29.25 inches long.

  • Adalyn will want to eat more solids on some days and other days she can't get enough of formula. We don't do cereal or oatmeal since she is pretty much against it. She will eat some sort of fruit midmorning, some veggies midafternoon, and whatever is leftover in the evening and/or one of the meat dinner 2nd stage thing.
