June 2013 Moms

7 Weeks Pregnant :)

Hi all, thought I would introduce myself as I'm due in June! I'm 25, engaged and 7 weeks pregnant with my first child. The pregnancy was a bit of a surprise as I had chemotherapy when I had cancer as a child and have always been told I would probably find it hard to conceive, so I had to take five tests before I would believe it was true haha. I am getting some awful symptoms atm including feeling sick pretty much 24/7 (since week 3, non-stop, I don't know how it feels to have a nice settled happy tummy anymore!), constipation, IBS going crazy, hormones going even more crazy, a strange taste in my mouth which won't go away and officially going off all food even though I am starving and all I want is to enjoy a good meal the way I used to but I just don't like anything! But most of all, the tiredness is ridiculous, I spend most of my time either in bed or wanting to be in bed!

Is anyone else having a lot of symptoms at once? Before I got pregnant I just thought you got sick every now and then, oh how wrong I was! I have my first scan next week too, is anyone else having theirs this early? In the UK we usually wait until 12 weeks but my mam is a midwife and got me in for an early one x

Re: 7 Weeks Pregnant :)

  • It'll get easier in a few weeks, but CONGRATS!!!!!!! and YAY for some on this side of the Atlantic :)

I had a dating ultrasound a few weeks ago and will go back at 12w for a second scan.

  • Congratulations!! I don't really have morning sickness, just a little bit of nausea here and there. This is baby #5 for me and I really didn't have morning sickness with any of my pregnancies. Just a little bit with DD2, but it was weird. As long as I didn't eat before 1pm I would be fine all day, but if I ate before 1pm I always threw up. Anyway, hopefully you will start feeling better in a few weeks. As for the other symptoms, I'm right there with ya! It'll get better soon though!

  • Congratulations, and welcome to the board! You're lucky you got in for an early ultrasound--you'll love it so much.

Sorry to hear you've been experiencing so many unpleasant symptoms, but some people start feeling better around week 10, I hear. My fingers are crossed that you're one of them!

  • Hello and congrats!  Hopefully you'll start feeling better soon - not uncommon at all to have all those symptoms.  You're not alone.   Hang in there, I'm also feeling like I want to stay in bed all day.  I know from my last pregnancy it does get better.

  • I'm glad to hear that it should get better in a few weeks, feeling so ill all the time is really getting me down now, but the scan this week should be a nice pick-me-up :) providing everything is ok, obviously, is anyone else really scared of m/c? I'm so anxious, although I keep trying to tell myself if I feel this crappy then there's obviously still something going on in there!

  • Congrats! I have almost all of those symptoms and it's 24/7. It will get better though!!
