Alcohol and amoxicillin?

Anyone know if you can safely mix the two?
I finally went to the doctor today, and I have mastitis, an ear infection, and strep. Amoxicillin it is. But I know as soon as I start feeling better, I'm gonna need some alcohol, stat. Please tell me I don't have to wait ten days to imbibe.

As far as I know drinking is fine... the only thing I know that it affects is the birth control pill is not as effective when taking antibiotics

I have always been told no, because it alters the affect the alcohol has on you... It could make you more drunk with less intake. But with that said I have always drank while taking it!

Dang!  That sucks!  I've never heard any adverse reaction to it, and I used to work at a dental office where we prescribed it quite often.  However, I'm not a Dr., so if I were you, I'd ask the pharmacist.

There isn't any issue with having a drink while you are taking amoxicillin. I double checked it in two of the resources I have available to me.

You can, but it might upset your stomach.
