food aversion

My 4 year old was just diagnosed with a food aversion. He is 5th percent for weight and basically hates eating. All his work-up came back negative. We have tried every trick in the book to get him to eat and usually eats the equivalent of maybe one meal a day. The pedi -gi just put him on Boost Essentials 1.5 3x per day with Duocal mixed in. Anyone else in the same boat?

Re: food aversion

  • My youngest was on the boost essentials 1.5 and an appetite stimulant from 12 months to about 2.5 yrs old. But he did not have an aversion to food. He ate, he ate a lot in fact... but he did not gain weight. For him it actually did help a lot. But the boost is a meal replacement, and he stopped eating food which is why we added the appetite stimulant. So I think that would be one of my concerns with boost especially if he has an aversion. I would want to meet with a feeding specialist and nutritionalist too. My son dropped off the charts, he is now about 3 percent, but growing consistently. He also stopped gaining height at the same time and is growing again! Which was the real concern.
