Pregnant after 35

cvs vs amnio

which one were you offered and why was one offered over the other?

Re: cvs vs amnio

  • I was offered both options, but we chose to go with the CVS because it is done much earlier. We would have considered termination depending on the results, so it was better for us to know earlier in the pregnancy.

  • We were offered both and chose neither. CVS is done earlier but has slightly higher risk. It's a personal decision on which to choose.

  • We were offered amnio because it could be done locally, while a CVS would have required an hour's drive. We did neither, opting instead for an NT scan with bloodwork and the MaterniT21 test. I was satisfied with the results and did not want to undergo an invasive procedure that could cause a miscarriage, so we're done until our anatomy scan a week from Monday. Most other problems can be seen at that scan.

  • We were offered both. Did Amnio since to us there was less risk and you can get better results then the CVS.
